Run 4 NYC

There isn’t a single day that goes by where I don’t feel extremely blessed. I feel blessed that after 5 years, I’ve returned to somewhat normal health and that I can enjoy all the activities I enjoyed before Lyme. I feel blessed for my family who have given me their full support, blessed that my family are all healthy and we all realize how fortunate we are. Throw into that mixture my tremendous friends and it’s not hard to feel like one of the luckiest people alive.

Thinking about how good I have it makes it really hard for me to sit on the sidelines realizing so many people don’t have it as good. So when an opportunity comes along to help, and especially  to help out by doing something I love more than anything else, running, I tend to want to get involved.

After Hurricane Sandy, which we in Maine only got a small taste of, (yet enough to know just how destructive it was going to be),  so, so many people on the Northeastern coast lost everything. When I saw on Daily Mile the Run 4 NYC (corresponding with the cancellation of the NYC marathon), I thought, what a really cool way to help out.

By signing up for this virtual race, you donate directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief, helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

I ran my virtual 5K last weekend, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. My best 5K of the year!!
